Children are not always liable for their parents
Higher Regional Court Oldenburg Proclamation 4 UF 166/15 from Jan 4, 2017
The OLG Oldenburg has decided that the adult daughter does not have to pay alimony to her father.
The applicant was seeking payment from his daughter, although he had refused to support her for six years in her youth, when she had been needy. He had pursued no gainful employment despite the possibility. In addition, he had broken off the contact.
Considering the overall circumstances, a claim would be grossly unfair. Therefore, the Higher Regional Court Oldenburg denied the fathers claim to alimony from his adult daughter in this case.
