A residence permit for the purpose of self-employment in accordance with § 21 Para. 1 AufenthG is issued to sole proprietors and active partners in a partnership. Legal representatives of legal entities (e.g. limited liability companies, public limited companies) also receive residence permits as self-employed persons in accordance with Section 21 AufenthG if they bear their own entrepreneurial risk within the scope of their activities.
